Tata Ltd Case Study - Improved IT infrastructure helps Tata's procurement in the UK

When Tata Limited discovered that certain aspects of its IT infrastructure upgrade had not been allowed for in the refurbishment project planned for its London offices, it knew that it didn’t have the in-house skills needed to handle a project of this scope and complexity.

As the company’s Facilities Manager had previously worked with Mark Dansie, Inflectiontech was appointed initially to project manage the BT OpenReach audit and shift of copper and fibre circuits, which  allowed the new lift construction and the refit project to commence. 
 
Inflectiontech also produced a Structured Cabling specification and took over the management of the relationship with calfordseaden, the multi-disciplined construction and property consultants providing the architectural and M&E design services, and coordinating the construction element of the building refurbishment.

Tata Ltd Purchase Manager, Kamal Desai, said: “As the project progressed we realised that there were lots of other areas we needed help with, particularly in the engagement and management of third parties to ensure we ended up with what we needed to in our new building.”

So the level of Inflectiontech’s involvement in the project was expanded further to assist Tata with the transformation of their technology infrastructure.  The company needed innovative solutions that would enable them to continue procuring goods and services for all of the Tata Group companies in the UK into the early 21st Century and beyond.
